Making a fale

my own fale
Talofa lava bloggers. This week is samoa language week. Today I am going to write about a fale. A fale is a house. It doesn't have windows, walls and doors. I made a fale in class. I used cardboard, hot glue gun, tape, scissors and dape.
1.  I cut 6 lines on the dape with scissors.
2.  I put the strips of cardboard into the lines. These are poles.
3.  I got a long thin strip of cardboard and I taped it on the poles.
4.  I made a roof with cardboard and I hot glued it to the poles.
5.  I was able to bring it home. I taped white strips of paper on the roof.

Fa bloggers. This means goodbye in samoa.

  1. Ka pai Josie. That looks amazing! I remember seeing a fale just like the one in your photo when I was in Samoa. What was the most challenging part of making it?

  2. Talofa lava Josie. I like the way you decorated your fale. It reminds me of when I was a little girl in Samoa, standing inside my grandfather's fale. He was showing me a live crab that he caught. As the crab crawled on the floor, I clung to my grandfather. It is a funny and fond memory I have of him. I enjoyed reading your blog Josie. Fa'afetai tele lava.

  3. Hi Josie, I am really impressed with the creative skills you showed while we were building these fale in class. It is great to see you sharing the important information describing the main features of fale. As I look at your photo, I see that you have continued your creation at home to add extra features, well done! I also found it useful to look at the photos and captions you have shared that compare your creation with a real fale. Thanks for sharing.
